A jersey or a graphic tee, shorts or joggers you can actually move in, and sneakers you have already broken in. Add one layer for when it gets cold and something to carry your phone. That covers it, and the rest of this page is the detail for when you want more than the minimum.
What should guys wear to a rave?
The men's side of this scene is less codified than the women's, which cuts both ways. Nobody is going to judge you for turning up in a tee and shorts. Equally, there is no obvious template to copy, which is why most guys end up asking.
The working answer is a loose breathable top, bottoms with room to move, and shoes you can stand in for six hours. Everything beyond that is preference.

The jersey is the closest thing men's rave wear has to a uniform. It is loose, it breathes, the sleeves are short, and it reads as festival rather than street without any effort on your part. If you want one piece that does the work, it is this.
What if I do not want to dress up?
Then do not. This is the most common worry and the least justified one.
A plain graphic tee, black shorts and sneakers is a completely normal thing to wear to a rave, and a large share of the crowd at any event is dressed roughly that way. Nobody is checked at the door and nobody is keeping score.

To Another World Men's Black T-Shirt
If you want to do one thing rather than nothing, make it the top. A graphic tee with a print tied to the music does more than a whole outfit chosen at random, because it signals you know where you are.
What tops work, beyond the jersey?
Tanks are the hottest-weather option and the most practical at a summer festival. Mesh and fishnet tops are the men's version of what the women's side has used for years, and they work for the same reason: coverage without heat.

Tripp NYC Men's Black Long Sleeve Fishnet Top
A long-sleeve mesh layer is the single most underrated men's piece. It covers your arms, weighs nothing, and solves the night-time temperature drop without a jacket.
Open shirts and short-sleeve button-ups work if you want structure. Avoid anything heavy cotton, for the same reason the women's guide says it: cotton holds sweat, gets heavy, and then goes cold on you the moment you step outside.
What bottoms should I wear?
Shorts or joggers, in something that stretches or at least does not fight you.

Techno Forever Men's Black Basketball Shorts
Basketball and drawstring shorts are the default at outdoor summer events because they are light and they dry. Joggers and cargos suit colder events and anywhere you want pockets, and cargo pockets are genuinely useful if you would rather not carry a bag at all.
Avoid jeans. They do not breathe, they do not dry, and they restrict exactly the movement you came for.
What shoes should I wear?
Broken-in sneakers. That is the honest answer for most men at most events.
The women's side of this category wears platform boots and there is nothing stopping you doing the same, but a sneaker you have already walked in beats anything new, whatever it is. A rave is six to nine miles of walking and standing at a multi-stage festival, and new shoes will take skin off.
Closed toe, always. Floors get wet and feet get stepped on.
What do I do about the cold later?
Bring one layer you can carry when you are not wearing it. This is the thing most first-timers get wrong, because the venue is hot when they arrive and they reason forward from that.

Hardstyle Unisex Black Pashmina
A pashmina is the standard answer in this scene and it is a better one than a jacket: it packs to nothing, it goes round your neck or your waist, and it doubles as something to sit on. A light zip hoodie works too if you would rather.
At a desert festival the drop after sunset is often twenty degrees. Plan for it rather than hoping.
What should I not wear?
Shorter list than the women's version, and most of it is footwear and fabric.
- Jeans and anything heavy cotton. Covered above, and it is the mistake men make most.
- Shoes you have not worn in, and anything open-toed.
- A novelty slogan tee bought for the occasion. It reads as a costume rather than as an outfit, and it is the one thing that will make you feel out of place.
- A watch or anything you would be upset to lose. Crowds are hard on wrists.
- Too many layers at the door. You will be carrying all of them by the second set.
One thing that is not on this list: there is no rule against being covered up. Long sleeves and full-length bottoms are common and nobody reads them as overdressed.
What colors and prints actually work?
Anything that reacts to light. That is the whole trick and it is why the scene looks the way it does.
Blacklight is standard at indoor events, so UV reactive prints go from ordinary at the door to the brightest thing in the room once you are inside. Holographic and reflective finishes do the same job under stage lighting and in photographs, which is where most of these outfits end up.
Dark, subtle palettes are the one thing that genuinely disappears. Not a problem if that is what you want, but worth knowing before you choose black for a night event and wonder why you are invisible in every picture.
Prints tied to the music do more than prints chosen for looks. It is the difference between dressing for a festival and dressing at one.
What about matching with a group?
Crew outfits are more common on the men's side than people expect, and they are the easiest way to look deliberate without any individual effort.
Match the print or the color rather than the whole outfit. Four people in the same jersey reads as a sports team; four people in the same print across different pieces reads as a crew. It also means you can find each other in a dark room, which at a multi-stage event is worth more than the aesthetic.
Pick something you would wear alone too, because the group version only happens once.
Will I wear any of this again?
This is the question that stops most men buying, and it is a fair one.
A jersey, a graphic tee and a pair of drawstring shorts are ordinary clothes with a loud print. They go into normal rotation the moment the festival is over, which is not true of most things bought for an event. The pieces that do not cross over are the obviously costume ones, which is an argument for buying the plain-shaped things in the loud prints rather than the other way round.
Care is simple and it is the thing that decides whether they last: cold wash, inside out, never a tumble dryer. Heat kills stretch fabric and any foil or holographic print in a single cycle.
What does a men's rave outfit cost?
A complete first outfit lands around fifty to ninety dollars if you build it from a jersey or tee, shorts, and use sneakers you already own. Shoes are the variable: buying new ones doubles it, and is the one part worth not rushing.
The cheaper approach over a season is one strong top plus bottoms you rotate, rather than a new outfit per event. A print-heavy jersey worn with three different bottoms reads as three outfits, and that is how most regulars actually do it.
Accessories that are not a costume
You do not need any. If you want some, these are the ones men actually wear rather than the ones that end up in a drawer.

Pierced Punk Unisex Sunglasses
Sunglasses are the easy one, and useful at a day festival rather than purely decorative. A bandana or a hood changes a silhouette more than it should for the money, and both solve hair and dust at an outdoor event.

Feral Feline Unisex Blue Leopard Triangle Bandana
Kandi, the beaded bracelets you will see traded, is not a women's thing. Bring a few spares if you want to join in. The trade is the point rather than the bracelet.
Does it change by event?
Indoor club or warehouse. Hot from the first hour. A tank or a jersey, shorts, and nothing you will have to carry. Thicker soles are worth more on concrete than on grass.
Outdoor summer festival. Sun all day, real cold at night. This is where the layer matters and where a tank plus a mesh long-sleeve beats one heavier top.
Multi-day camping festival. Dust gets into everything. Darker colors, synthetic fabrics that rinse out, one outfit per day and a spare top. You will want the spare.
Winter or countdown events. Layers rather than one thick thing, so you can shed as the room warms up. A hood, a pashmina and a long-sleeve under a tee covers most of it.
What do guys wear to EDC?
EDC is a desert event in May, which makes it the clearest case of the layering problem. Daytime is genuinely hot and the nights are cold, and the walking distances between stages are long.
The combination that works: a jersey or tank, light shorts, broken-in sneakers, sunglasses for the day and a pashmina for the night. Nothing you would mind getting dusty.
Our EDC collection gathers what fits, and the same logic covers Beyond Wonderland, Hard Summer and Electric Forest.
What should I bring?
- Earplugs. Filtered ones cut the volume without muffling the music, and your hearing does not grow back.
- A way to charge your phone. The night is longer than a battery and you will need it to find people.
- A small bag that fastens, or cargo pockets. Check the event's own bag policy first, because clear-bag rules and size limits vary by venue and are enforced at the gate.
- Your layer, even if the forecast says otherwise.
- Blister bandages. Tiny, cheap, and the highest return item you can carry.

ClutchLoop USB-C Unisex ChargeLoop
What does a 40 year old guy wear to a rave?
The same as everyone else. A tee or jersey, shorts or joggers, sneakers. There is no age dress code at these events and there is no version of this where you are the oldest person in the room.
If you want more coverage, a long-sleeve or a full-length jogger does it without looking like you have dressed down. The only real rule at any age is to wear something you can forget about.
How do I get men's sizing right?
Men's sizing here is charted by garment rather than one chart for everything, because a hoodie, a jogger and a t-shirt are not cut the same way. There are separate charts for men's t-shirts, hoodies, joggers and shorts, all linked from the sizing page.
Rave clothing generally runs small, so read the chart rather than ordering the size you usually take. If you are between two, size up: loose is the look anyway.
Returns are 30 days from delivery as store credit, and the detail is on the returns page.
How long before the event should I order?
We take one to two business days to prepare an order, then Economy is five to eight days at $5.99, Priority is two to four at $9.95, and Express is one to three at $24.99. Count backwards from the event rather than forwards from the order.
If you are in Los Angeles, the showroom at 414 W Pico Blvd is open 11am to 7pm every day and carries the men's range to try on, which removes the sizing question entirely.
Common questions
What is proper rave attire for men?
There is no dress code. The practical version is a breathable top, bottoms you can move in, broken-in closed-toe shoes, and one layer for later. Anything beyond that is styling.
Can I wear jeans to a rave?
You can, and you will regret it by the third hour. Denim traps heat, does not dry, and restricts movement.
Do guys wear mesh to raves?
Yes, routinely. A mesh or fishnet long-sleeve is one of the most practical men's pieces in the scene because it gives coverage without heat.
What should I wear to my first rave if I want to keep it simple?
A black graphic tee, black shorts, broken-in sneakers, and a pashmina you can tie on. You will look like you have been before.
Where can I try men's rave clothing on?
At our Downtown Los Angeles showroom, 414 W Pico Blvd, open 11am to 7pm daily. It carries the men's range alongside everything else.
